From its very beginning, Smartplay founders focused on satisfying the customer with a quality product. Indeed, we sometimes find ourselves servicing traditional machines which have been in continual operation for fifteen or more years. So it was natural to eventually seek official recognition for our work by pursuing ISO 9001:2008 certification.
ISO 9001-2008 Certified
The process of preparing for the outside registrar to evaluate our Quality Management System (QMS) was a challenge that took months. Systems were in place, but the work of documenting the systems, training on the ISO terminology, and adjusting to the increase in paperwork has been a chore for the whole team.
For months, a consultant guided and trained staff; the external auditor made visits in July and August, and finally, in October 2016, Smartplay received approval of our QMS from Perry Johnson Registrars, Inc., an internationally recognized registrar, accredited by ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) among others.
Smartplay President David Michaud stated, “I am extremely proud of Smartplay’s personnel for the commitment, diligence and teamwork they have demonstrated to achieve this certification. Our focus on quality and service extends throughout our entire organization and this achievement serves as official recognition of the processes which support our corporate goal of customer satisfaction.”
“We see the demanding certification and audit process as a challenge in the pursuit to improve our company,” said Executive Vice President Tom Markert. “We can now officially demonstrate that we meet high quality standards in our customer service and product support.”
While the demands for custom products made to this standard may have resulted in a longer production time, we believe our customers will be pleased with the results. And we certainly can’t rest on our laurels since the ISO 9001:2008 standard has already been revised to 2015. With hard work we can continue to improve, pressing forward to meet compliance for ISO 9001:2015.
